"Reign of Assassins", acclaimed Hong Kong director John Woo's new martial-arts film starring Michelle Yeoh and Jung Woo-Sung, has released a series of stills.
Set in ancient China, the film is about a murderess (Michelle Yeoh) who retires to live in a small town with her husband, an honest and optimistic mailman (Jung Woo-Sung). However, she keeps a treasure which attracts many assassins to the town.
Michelle Yeoh is an action star with an international fan base. Her films include "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (2000) and "Memoirs of a Geisha" (2005).
South Korean actor Jung Woo-Sung rose to fame in the 1994 film "The Fox with Nine Tails". His notable films also include "Daisy" (2006) and "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" (2008).
With an investment of 14 million U.S. dollars, "Reign of Assassins" boasts a star-studded cast that also includes Wang Xueqi, Barbie Hsu, and Shawn Yue.
The film will premiere at the 67th Venice International Film Festival which will open on September 1. Theatrical release is set for September 28.
